Real-Life Practice Challenge: The Bridge to Mastery

Where the system stops being theory — and becomes a skill you can actually use.

This module is about taking the Executive Presence Conversation System (EPCS) into real life. Not in a role-play. Not in a safe practice room. But in an actual conversation that matters.

This is the moment where learning becomes leadership.

 

1. What This Challenge Is

You will choose one real conversation to apply the EPCS framework this week. Just one — but it must be meaningful enough for you to be intentional.

Examples include:

  • giving feedback
  • pitching an idea
  • delivering difficult news
  • navigating a conversation where you expect pushback

The goal is not perfection. The goal is application.

 

2. How to Prepare (Before the Conversation)

Open your workbook to the Real-Life Practice Challenge section and write down four things:

  1. Who is this conversation with?
  2. What is your core message?
  3. How will you enter?
  4. How will you exit?

This preparation anchors your intention and gives your conversation a clear structure.

 

3. What to Do During the Conversation

Use the EPCS framework:

  • Enter with intention
  • Lead with clarity
  • Exit with credibility

As you speak, simply notice:

  • how you feel
  • how the other person responds
  • what shifts when you’re more intentional

You’re not performing. You’re practicing.

 

4. What to Do After the Conversation

Record a 2–3 minute reflection (audio or video). Then answer four questions:

  • What did I notice?
  • What went well?
  • What felt hard?
  • What surprised me about their reaction?

Capture a few notes in your workbook — or keep the recording. Either one works.

This reflection is where awareness becomes insight.

 

5. Why This Challenge Matters

This exercise creates your “before picture.” It gives you a baseline — a snapshot of how you communicate today.

When you move into one‑on‑one coaching later, this becomes the foundation:

  • your coach will see what you did
  • they’ll help you refine it
  • they’ll show you where your presence is already strong
  • and where you can deepen it

But this only works if you complete the challenge.

Real transformation doesn’t come from knowing the system. It comes from using it — and learning from what actually happens.

 

6. Your Assignment for the Week

  • Have one real conversation
  • Use the EPM Conversation framework
  • Notice what happens
  • Reflect on it

You will learn more about yourself in this single exercise than in any amount of passive learning.
